Diabetics at Pizza Hut

Pizza is neither a great meal nor the worst for diabetes. All you need is some fact check and monitoring while ordering your pizza. Diabetics can opt for thin crust or skinny pizza at Pizza Hut and avoid the cheese topping to cut down on the excess fat and sodium. If you have diabetes, then ensure to check your portion size when you order a pizza. One or max. two slices are enough. You can also avoid meat if possible and go for wings as a meat option.

Foods to Avoid at Pizza Hut for Diabetics:

You must avoid Meat Lovers Pizza with Original Pan Crust as it contains over 1000mg sodium and will add 470 calories in your meal. You should also skip Super Supreme Pizza Large Original Pan Slice which is too high in sodium and fat. Chicken wings are often tempting but you must control and restrict yourself from ordering Traditional Honey BBQ Bone-in Wings as it can add up to your sugar levels if you eat too many. On average, a person orders or consumes six chicken wings pieces in a day.

Sides must be avoided at all costs especially if it's Bacon Cheddar Fries with Ranch Dipping Cup for its high sodium content. You must also avoid New York Style Cheesecake with Applesauce as dessert as one slice of this dessert item contains 86g sugar. Pizza Hut also offers other Italian dishes such as Pasta. However, you must skip Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and Meatballs and Garlic Bread as it is too high in sodium and sugar.

High Cholesterol at Pizza Hut

Whether large, medium or small, a pizza can boost your cholesterol levels instantly. You shouldn't eat more than one slice of any pizza your order at Pizza Hut. If you're concerned with your high cholesterol, then it is wise to take your friends to Pizza Hut and share pizza among them slice by slice. You can also try pasta at Pizza Hut but ensure that you are not adding any dressing or extra cheese as you order pasta.

Def will come back. They have the REAL tacos. Basic and simple tacos available. Very tastey!!! They do offer the loaded with toppings that make your taco fall apart option too. Awesome. French fries are homemade and awesome. They even have Jarrito soda! I was def happy here.

The tacos are authentic with homemade tortillas. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because they ran out of pork for the carnitas. I will go back with hopes that they have enough pork next time.

What a gem!! Seriously, my parents live in the area and were Raving about this place. We used to go for ice cream and were excited to see the place add the restaurant. My parents ordered burritos with pineapple salsa, I order the chicken kabob special, and my best friend ordered a chicken quesadilla with avocado (not on the menu)-- every thing was perfect. It reminded of the delicious food that I had in Nicaragua. Everyone was more than pleased with their meals. The restaurant has hand crafted decor. The walls are decorated with hand made art work from Honduras and supports the local merchants (my favorite part). The owners are a sweet couple (she's from Honduras) and are always ready for a chat! Ps we ended the night on a sweet note and ordered some churros and flan! Sweet tooth totally satisfied!

Live 2 blocks from this cute establishment!! So happy we have GOOD tacos on the beach now!! We had the Plate Special: BBQ Chicken & Grilled Fish Tacos with Black Beans & Rice! Very good and large portions & inexpensive!!! A large menu with many items to select from! To hot to sit outside and will be really great when they get more indoor seating!!!! We will be back!!

If it's not a good experience does it matter if the food is good? Over heard the manager speaking horrible to a new employee who clearly did not know what they were doing. Owners were rude. I will not recommend an establishment who treats people poorly. It needs proper management and training it's a mess. Not clean.

This was the perfect post-surf session meal! I ordered the taco plate, which comes with two tacos of your choice with beans and rice. I selected the "traditional" Mexican Pork and Carne tacos with soft corn tortillas. Unfortunately, the pork was not ready at that time but the Carne was delicious. It was tender and flavorful. The tacos were simple - meat, diced onions, cilantro, and a green or red salsa. I was incredibly please that they also served my meal with lime wedges! I was very hungry but still didn't finish the whole meal. The service was pleasant and my food was even brought outside to where I had been waiting.

  • New F.

I'll start with the good: the tacos were excellent and cheap. The proximity to the beach was outstanding. The bad: it's frighteningly dirty outside. An employee's significant other was sitting outside, clipping her baby's toenails in an eating area. There is also trash lining the alley behind the building and rodent traps. I wouldn't go back solely based on cleanliness.

  • Bilal H.

The positives: they cook their meat from scratch. Which is awesome. The neutral: the tacos are ok. Not the best, but not the worst. I have had better tacos in Kansas and Missouri. BUT, they have a descent selection, which is cool. The negatives: for some reason, it seems like they hate their customers. The service was the worst encountered in all of New Smyrna Beach. The little hut is extremely hot. There is no air conditioning. It takes over 30 minutes for them to complete their order. They charge extra for salsa. They also only have three people working. Lastly, there is no Taco Tuesday special on Tuesdays. Taco Tuesdays is as American as it gets.

I enjoyed this place from the very beginning. I came in and immediately noticed a flag situated inside, in one corner. I kind of recognized this flag, but I was partially wrong, as I believed it was from Nicaragua, but it was actually the national flag of Honduras. Since I am Costa Rican, and was eager to start a conversation with the owner and a patron to whom I heard they were speaking in Spanish. Amanda is from Honduras and his spouse from US own this restaurant. They named their restaurant after his son's nickname. They bought a house three years ago and have seven months serving great food in New Smyrna Beach. I had asked a Yelper who is a regular, what her recommendation was. She said, go for the Baja Fish Taco and the Pork Carnita, so I did. These two tacos were really good, rich in ingredients, and nice to your eyes. They are made with fresh corn tortillas that she makes every day with a tortilla machine. She makes, if I am not wrong, about 300 daily. - Baja Fish Taco: beer battered white fish, cabbage, onions, cilantro, Izzy sauce, and salsa roja. - Pork Carnita: shredded seasoned pork, pineapple salsa, and cotija cheese. They were both great. I had them as the Plate Special, with yellow rice and black beans. I think it needed more black beans. Once I finished the tacos, and after having enjoyed a nice conversation in Spanish with Amanda, I had a complementary caramel flan. I plan to be back for sure.

What a perfect beachside business Tacos and Ice Cream, this small town ice cream stand has transformed itself into a wonderful little restaurant. By no means is this your standard taco stand this place scores major points with the beach goers and locals for good reason, offering up a vast selection of authentic homemade fare from the fresh made corn tortillas piled high with chicken, beef or pork, hand chopped onions, cilantro topped with fresh salsa either green or red so simple yet so delicious. I haven't tried the burritos, quesadillas, burgers, hot dogs or taco salads but there seems to be something for everyone and they will make it your way so just tell them how you want it. The prices are very reasonable but more importantly the food is really good. A word of caution if your expecting the typical style of Mexican food that has been Americanized by the fast food chains and most of the small Mexican restaurants scattered throughout the area this may not be your place this is the real deal.

We were hungry for a quick lunch and this was close by. A while back it used to be another (ice cream) business. We were very pleasantly surprised by great, authentic south of the border (Honduran) food. The food has great flavor and it's real, homemade food. I believe that you will be satisfied with whatever you choose. We didn't order ice cream- you go outside to order that- but I did see someone with some and it looked yummy! A great casual choice for good food.

We come from an area with a large Hispanic population, so we know good tacos! This place was good! They make their own, fresh corn tortillas! Yum! The food was delicious, fresh and a great value. My dad dropped one of his tortillas on the floor and we asked for a replacement. They cooked a whole stack of fresh ones and brought them to our table for no charge. The only criticism I can say is the seating, while unique, is very uncomfortable. It was quite warm in the restaurant when we are there but it didn't detract from the yummy food!

A must visit if you're in New Smyrna Beach. Tacos are unreal, I've tried the Baja fish, grilled fish, pork carnita and chorizo (which is made in house) and was never disappointed. The homemade guacamole and salsa is also excellent and worth checking out with nachos or the corn chips. The ingredients are real and fresh, and Izzy's is owned and operated by a lovely family. I was visiting NSB for a week and ate at Izzy's three nights. Highly recommended!

First visit. BBQ chicken taco was good, but fried fish taco tasted too fishy which is usually a sign of not being fresh. Rice was good. The yellow queso dip was average. And small quantity of cheese and chips as I got it to go. If not for the fishy taste of the tacos, I might have gone back as it was cute inside and nice menu.

  • Brian Douglas H.

I've never had a better taco. This was my favorite, the Baja Portobello: "beer battered fried portobello, balsamic habanero reduction, pico de gallo, cotija cheese" I hate to be all "need I say more?", but, yeah. You want tacos in NSB? This is THE place.

Plantains? Real tacos? Yesssssss! The new perfect place for lunch. I'm so in love with this place, I'll be here once a week.

  • Jaime S.

Salsa verde is great and the plantains were awesome! The carne plate was very filling and the flavors were well-balanced. I really liked the salad. Overall, a good meal at a fair price. It was hot as hot gets, both inside and out, so make sure you order plenty of cold drinks.

This was recommended by hotel and it was the best. The food was great and made fresh when ordered. My son who normally does not like rice even commented on how good the rice was. If you like authentic taco then this is for you.

Fresh, Clean and friendly. Nice to have a beachside taco place. We have tacos and guacamole. Guac was awesome. Get the habenero sauce w pineapple accent. Can't wait to try homemade cut fries and burger next trip.

Very good burritos, have had the tacos and burritos only so far. My fav is shredded pork. I come here 4 days a week if I'm working on beachside. Good value overall. Nice decor. Call ahead is easy. Owner and staff very friendly. Sometimes I ask for custom items like pineapple shrimp taco to be made into a burrito and they are happy to make for me. GREAT ADDITION TO NSB. GO IZZYs...~T-BONE. Remember fresh ain't fast.....

  • Heather B.

Had the grilled shrimp burrito with pineapple salsa....absolutely wonderful!! My children had the tacos. They wasn't to crazy about the texture of the homemade taco shells, but overall loved the fillings. The ice cream was great way to finish off our meal!

  • Rachel B.

Oh wow how I really wanted to like this place. Ambiance of the taco side was nice. Outdoor area seating is beachy. Taco/dinner food was decent. Two things tipped the scale to the negative (absurdly negative). As for ordering ice cream, it was a good 30 minute wait with about 10 people in front of us. When we got to the front, I see about 6 people working in the back...not sure how its even possible to go this slow. I did not realize their ice cream was Coldstone (mix in) style so needless to say I was shocked to realize it took this long to add things like scoops of chocolate chips and cherries to a cup of vanilla ice cream (I should know, I worked at an ice cream place and those hand packed homemade styles can take a while to scoop out). But the WORST part by far was the restrooms. I had three little ones with me which meant multiple trips to the restroom while I was waiting.....walking past the dumpsters with all of the days garbage, under the dripping air conditioner, into the bathroom that was about 100 degrees and inside what appeared to be a storage closet. Making repeat visits to this part of the restaurant became almost unbearable so much so that I encouraged other customers not to go back there if they could avoid it. If you want a taco to go, this place in manageable. If not, I'd say go somewhere else.

Solid choice for Tacos in the New Smyrna Beach area. They have some Honduran food like a Hotdog that you might also want to try if you feel like something else. Good service -- no complaints.

  • Bryon W.

Really good, authentic Central American/Mexican food. The atmosphere is nice, but the service is a little weird. I think it's definitely a family business, kids and all. Don't let this dissuade you from visiting. The food is pleasing to any palate, and the prices are reasonable. Will definitely be back!

Outstanding food. Hand made tortillas are fantastic. Great sized portions. I had the Baja fish taco and a carne. My wife fell in love with the Portobello mushroom taco. Going home very satisfied tonight. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys food.

Just had lunch at this cute little Honduran place in NSB. The pork tacos and Baha fish taco were outstanding. Lot's of fresh cilantro and lime wedges included. I was not familar with Honduran food but it has a much different feel than typical Mexican food. Will definitely go back to try the tamales ( looked very authentic, wrapped in banana leaves ) and quesadillas. My only disappointment was the guacamole had way too much red onion in it. Excellent flavor but major heartburn! More avocado and less onion please! Everything is made fresh so call ahead if you are in a hurry.

Very good tacos. I had the pineapple shrimp and Baja shrimp both very tasty and fresh. My sister has the platter that comes with rice and beans which were good. Cute place, good food

The food was delicious! We had the Baja fish taco, grilled fish taco, beef tacos, pineapple shrimp taco & a cheese quesadilla. All of it was very good, fresh cooked with tasty ingredients for a great price. I would get the Baja Fish tacos again for sure!!! I am also looking forward to trying other items on the menu. The inside was very clean & nicely decorated incorporating a refreshing island feel. The seating is limited, but our family of 4 was comfortable at the table. Other seating was available along a bar looking out the window & along the back wall. We wanted to get ice cream afterwards, but to do that you have to go outside and order at a separate window. So just be aware of this. Of course this makes sense because of the way the business is set up, and their is a separate line for ice cream. The kids really enjoyed their soft serve ice cream with chocolate fudge. This is a great place to get a quick bite of fresh cooked flavorful food by the beach! They also have burgers & hot dogs.

The tacos were awesome. Tortillas made fresh right in front of you. I would choose this place anytime over every place in the area. Including those nominated for awards. Take it from a sous chef!

Really good concept, but that's it. A lot of their stuff seems homemade, but then they're cutting corners, probably to save money. We ordered nachos and they were basically cheese-less and what was on them was burnt. I had a burger with fries and the fries were literally the saltiest fries I've ever been served. Even our kids couldn't eat them and they're "saltaholics". Next, the food is served sporadicly. My wife ate her meal, then the kids got theirs. Then, FINALLY, the nachos showed up (which we specifically requested be served before the meals as an appetizer). As I mentioned already, they were a huge disappointment. My burger was served at the same time as the nachos. The burger was flavorless, but it did have more cheese on it than the whole order of nachos, which is saying a lot because it was the size of a Krystal burger (albeit thicker). And it was flavorless. I brought some of this to the attention of the staff, but they didn't really seem to care. Oh - almost forgot -they don't allow you to have cups of water. You have to buy bottles water. Not a huge deal, but pretty stupid considering their food is over prices and not very good. After dinner, we went outside for ice cream. It was good and the lady was nice, but the cones were very stale. I guess the 2 starts instead of 1 is because the concept is good and the ice cream was good. Overall though, there's absolutely no way we are going back.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
